this is a game on even and odd numbers.
Each student takes a random number of snap cubes (between 0 and 20). She/he has
to build two towers that are of the same size. If one tower is one cube taller than the
other, then the number is an odd number. Students write their numbers on a sticky
note and stick it in the correct category on an anchor chart. Afterwards, they will
have a discussion about what patterns they notice with the numbers in the even and
odd columns and record their observations on an anchor chart.
2 + 2 = 4 (EVEN) 3 + 2 = 5 (ODD)
A Pinch of history
In the religious text – Yajurveda, Chapter 18 Shloka 24 talks about odd numbers
(1, 3, 5 ___ 33) in pairs which when added give even numbers. Shloka 25 talks about 4, 8,
12 ___ 44 which are all even.
